First Nations Health

This one is for all you lubly ones!

I don’t know about you, but my sex ed in high school lacked any diversity. It was very white-focused and it sucked!

YEP are here to support Blak people in living healthy, pleasure-filled lives (and yes, that includes sexually).

Looking out for the health of our mob

YEP aims to empower First Nations young people with knowledge about sexual health so that we can look after our sexual health with no shame. YEP does this through creating resources tailored specifically to the needs of young mob, and supporting the right for everyone to be able to safely access sexual health services and information.

Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander young people face unique barriers to looking after our sexual health. Cultural stigma and shame, a lack of access to resources in remote areas, and professionals who aren’t well equipped with cultural knowledge all contribute to lower health outcomes for us mob. STIs and BBVs disproportionately affect our mob. Change starts with education, so let’s take charge of our sexual health and protect others in our community.

The Midwest Public Health Physician, Dr Marisa Gilles, hopes that the video will bring about an increase in the awareness of sexual health issues and lead to an increase in STI testing.
