Meekatharra Sexual Health Hip Hop Video – Indigenous Hip Hop Projects

The Indigenous Hip Hop Project has teamed up with the Midwest Public Health Unit and the Meekatharra Shire to produce a music video about sexual health. The video which was funded by the Sexual Health and Blood-borne Virus Program, talks about the prevention and treatment of STIs, having respectful relationships and making responsible choices. The Midwest Public Health Physician, Dr Marisa Gilles, hopes that the video will bring about an increase in the awareness of sexual health issues and lead to an increase in STI testing. Approximately 200 people attended the community presentation of the video in Meekatharra.

Meet the team

Vanessa Vlajkovic

Hi! My name is Nessa and I’m 20 years old. I’m studying Journalism at Edith Cowan University, with a Public Relations minor. I am an avid reader, writer, traveller and cheerleader. I’m also a passionate advocate for the deafblind community, and for other types of disability. I’ve been on the committee of the Youth Disability Advocacy Network (YDAN) at YACWA for a few months, and through them have developed a desire to become a YEP volunteer, as I want to expand my horizons.
