YEP Workshop in Community Newsletter – Comet Care School Clarkson

Original article published here

Last Wednesday students at Comet received the opportunity to learn about the topic of gender and sexuality. We were lucky enough to have two speakers from the local Lesbian Gay Bi Transgender community, come out and educate students. The workshop was very educational for the students providing the opportunity to grow their knowledge and learn why it’s so important to be able to accept people for who they are. As a society, we need to adapt to be able to accept people for who they want to be, and why it is so important to stand up for LGBT people and show the rest of the world that they are still humans and deserve to be treated with respect. As a community, it is our role to make sure that everyone feels as welcome as possible and teach others why this topic is so important.

In the words of a student; Tarnika

“The workshop was a good experience, we learnt a lot of things and the people were really nice and open about their experiences and sexuality, they were very confident.’’
