My name is Tahnae and I am 24 years old. I was born and raised in Bunbury until 2011 when I moved to Perth to study. I am known to be a little bit goofy and clumsy. I am really passionate about health in general, but am particularly interested in mental well-being and how both mental and physical health are so closely intertwined. I absolutely love meditation, yoga, travel, cooking, nature, being crafty (trying at least), and spending time with my loved ones.
Since graduating with Honours from a Bachelor of Psychology degree at Curtin University earlier this year, I decided to take a little time for myself to recuperate and have a little break from all things psychology-related. In this time, I have been working as a barista at a local café. In recent months, the motivation and passion to pursue practical experience to compliment my theoretical studies has been reignited. I am now in the early stages of volunteering with Headspace, as well as volunteering as a Youth Connector for Act-Belong-Commit. The latter involves educating and encouraging peers to lead mentally healthy lives (a prominent passion of mine).
I am so excited to be a YEP Crew Peer Educator because I think it’s integral for youth to be provided the opportunities for support and guidance when making important decisions about their health that may have a substantial impact on their future outcomes. Furthermore, peer education is such an empowering tool to inform, educate, and therefore provide support to youth.
