Hi, my name is Julian and I am 18 years old. I am currently in my first year at UWA studying Medical Science and Public Health. I like surfing, sailing and swimming – but I am super lazy on land. So I think my spirit animal would be a seal!
This year I’ve been volunteering with the awesome people at Dr YES, an AMA run program which engages with schools in the big areas facing youth health – alcohol and drugs, mental health and sexual health. My experiences with them have been eye opening in terms of the improvements we need to see in attitudes towards sexual wellbeing and knowledge.
Just a few weeks ago I was shipped out to a rural town called Kondinin to tutor some amazing primary school kids with the volunteer group Teach Learn Grow. Although there was no sexual health or blood borne viruses involved it was astonishing to see the amount of positive change we had on the kids in just a short week.
I’m really excited to work with all the enthusiastic YEP Crew Peer Educators that you can see on this page. I aim to learn as much as I can from their experience and from my involvement with this incredible project. I look forward to seeing you out in the community and learning more about you!
