PANEL EVENT: How to best support trans and gender diverse students in WA schools

You will hear from trans and gender diverse students, parents of trans and gender diverse young people and school staff or professionals who have supported trans and/or gender diverse students. We also welcome a representative from the Equal Opportunity Commission of WA, Diana MacTiernan, as a panelist. You will have the opportunity to ask panelists questions about how WA schools can best support these students when you register to attend this event.
Prior to the panel we will also hear from theCommissioner for Children and Young People, Colin Pettit. Penelope Strauss will also speak about the recentTrans Pathways research. Trans Pathways is the largest study conducted with trans and gender diverse young people on their mental health and care pathways in Australia (859 participants). It is also the first study of its kind to include the perspectives of parents of trans and gender diverse young people. In this presentation Penelope will share a snapshot into the mental health ofTrans Pathways participants and will discuss findings related to the issues faced by trans and gender diverse young people in school settings.

We welcome all those working with school aged young people to join us for this exciting event as an opportunity to hear directly from trans and gender diverse young people about their experiences at school and how we can best support them.
