This seminar seeks to support the work of male teachers to deliver comprehensive sexuality and relationships education (SRE) to students that aligns with the WA curriculum. It is an important event for male teachers and anyone who works in schools to support them.
Join us for afternoon tea followed by a fun, stimulating and interactive workshop!
Facilitator: Dr Lorel Mayberry is a sexology lecturer within the award winning Department of Sexology at Curtin University and has been involved in the area of sexuality education for more than three decades. This includes work she has done as a primary school teacher. Lorel is known for her creative and interactive approach to the facilitation of controversial issues. Along with her university work, Lorel coordinates sexual health workshops with people of all ages and from all walks of life. As the President of Borderless Friendship WA, she is passionate about her volunteer work with hill tribe people in Northern Thailand (see www.borderlessfriendship.org)
Guest speaker: Mr Brad Flynn is a Year 9 & 10 Health teacher and the Director of Studies at Carmel Adventist College. He has previously been employed as a chaplain, educator, trainer and project officer and has worked with a range of agencies and organisations including Growing and Developing Healthy Relationships, School Drug Education and Road Aware, Life Education and the University of Notre Dame. Brad is married to Annette and has two teenage sons, Michael and Daniel.
