Perth, WA
International Overdose Awareness Day is Thursday 31st August. WASUA will again be co-hosting the event at the Overdose Remembrance Tree at Hyde Park (near Lake Street entrance). The event will start at 12:00 and will include a BBQ lunch for all who attend – please see the attached poster for more information or contact WASUA on 9325 8387.
The rate of opiate overdoses has been increasing. The day is centered around remembering and honoring those we have lost as well as raising awareness of ways everyone can prevent, recognize and respond to opiate overdoses. It is a very supportive day and is a good opportunity for workers and clients to come together to share experiences.
WASUA staff will be on hand during the day to promote naloxone training. Naloxone is the only drug which is able to reverse an opiate overdose. WASUA provides FREE training at 1pm on the last Thursday of every month, people who attend the training may then be prescribed and dispensed naloxone. For more information on naloxone training please contact Ruth on 9325 8387 or via email healthpromotion@wasua.com.au
If you require any further information please do not hesitate to WASUA. We hope to see you there!
